For the longest time I have been looking for the perfect interval timer for my running sessions. Anyone who has ever used a kitchen timer knows how loud and mind-numbing some of those instruments can be when they go off. Mine is worse than a fire siren. At least I think so but in my attempt to find perfection, I have taken aid of this kitchen gadget on one occasion.
And then there’s YouTube – you never know what you are going to find. Looking for I-don’t-remember-what, one September evening not so long ago, I stumbled upon a video of a lady working out with a baseball bat. The bat workout was interesting. What was even more interesting was that she had this little pink thing she used for timing her intervals. I was immediately intrigued and the rest, as they say, is history.
| Belt Clip holds firmly in place |
Features:
- Two levels of volume – BH & BL
- Vibrator function – V, Handy when you for instance don’t want to attract attention
- Intervals – The possibility to use 1 or 2 intervals (I have 2 intervals, 30 sec & 1 min – see below)
- Stopwatch function
- Alarm – you can set the duration of the alarm from 1 sec to 9 sec
- Circuits – up to 99 circuits
- One AAA battery
| I use both intervals: 30s & 1min |
It is such freedom for me to run and not have to look at the time at all, especially now that it is dark outside. In addition, I love the challenge that comes with it – being able to intensify a workout but within the given time limits.
Ever since I got it I have been inspired to look up new ways to improve my interval training which has opened up a new world of working out methods such as tabatas and plyometrics. I am thinking of getting another one – for practical reasons.
Oh, the baseball-bat lady, aka Suzana can be caught at http://www.bodyrock.tv/ . Check it out and be inspired.
